City governments can play a vital role in scaling up local renewable energy sources, increasing the penetration of renewables in the electricity grid supplying the city, and delivering grid upgrades and other supportive clean energy infrastructure."
Barriers to Transition:
High upfront costs for electric vehicles and charging infrastructure, along with existing fossil fuel subsidies, hinder rapid adoption.
Policy Initiatives:
Over 130 cities are participating in initiatives like the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty to phase out fossil fuels, and adopting SAFE Cities (Standing Against Fossil Fuel Expansion) policies to restrict new infrastructure.
The alliance is a small group of manufacturers from both side of the Atlantic. We have worked together closely to offer effective sustainable solutions to buildings and transportation. We want to model workable designs for the advanced and developing economies.
